Human Design is a synthesis of ancient wisdom and modern science — weaving together the I Ching, the Kabbalah's Tree of Life, the Hindu Chakra system, Western astrology, and quantum physics into one unified map of the individual. Introduced in 1987, it has become one of the most practically useful self-knowledge systems available.
Where other systems describe who you are, Human Design describes how you work — the mechanics of your energy, the correct way for you to make decisions, and the conditioning patterns that may cause you to live as someone you're not.
Miri-am encountered Human Design in 2024 and was immediately struck by how deeply it complements and enriches every other system she has studied. A Full Reading brings all four systems into conversation — and Human Design's language of energy and mechanics often illuminates what the other systems point toward.

Type is the first and most foundational layer of a Human Design chart. It describes the mechanics of your energy — how you are designed to initiate, respond, guide, or reflect.
Manifestors
Initiators here to act independently and inform others. Rare and powerful — the only type designed to start things without waiting. Strategy: inform before acting to reduce resistance.
Generators
The life force of humanity — here to respond and find sustainable work they love. Their Sacral Center gives them consistent, reliable energy when engaged with the right things. Strategy: wait to respond.
Manifesting Generators
Multi-passionate responders — fast-moving, finding the most efficient path, often skipping steps that others need. Strategy: wait to respond, then inform before acting.
Projectors
Guides here to see deeply into others and be invited to share their gifts. Not designed for sustained work in the way Generators are — their power comes from recognition and invitation. Strategy: wait for the invitation.
Reflectors
Mirrors who reflect the health of their community — rare, lunar beings with no defined Centers. Deeply sensitive to their environment. Strategy: wait a full lunar cycle before making significant decisions.
Strategy, Authority & beyond.
Every Type has a Strategy — the correct way to engage with life so that decisions unfold in alignment rather than resistance. Following Strategy reduces friction, increases synchronicity, and allows the right things to come to you rather than forcing outcomes that aren't meant to be. It's simple in principle and often genuinely challenging in practice.
Every individual has an Authority — the specific inner signal that guides correct choices. This is where Human Design becomes deeply personal:
- Sacral Authority — the gut's yes/no, felt in the body as a sound or physical sensation
- Emotional Authority — clarity only after riding the full emotional wave; never decide in the high or low
- Splenic Authority — quiet instinctive knowing in the moment; the spleen speaks once and softly
- Ego/Heart Authority — what the heart genuinely wants and can commit to; willpower as compass
- Self-Projected Authority — truth discovered by talking it through; the voice reveals the answer
- Mental/Outer Authority — clarity through sounding-board conversations with trusted others
- Lunar Authority — for Reflectors only: waiting a full lunar cycle (28 days) before deciding
A two-number description (such as 1/3, 2/4, 5/1, 6/2) drawn from the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. Profile describes the archetypal story and role a person is designed to live. It reveals how you learn, how you relate to others, and what kind of life path feels authentic rather than forced.
Nine Centers (related to the Hindu chakra system) can be either defined (colored, consistent energy) or undefined (white, open to conditioning from others). Defined Centers are where you radiate consistent energy outward; undefined Centers are where you amplify and reflect the energy of others — and where you are most susceptible to conditioning and "not-self" behavior. Understanding your Centers reveals both your consistent gifts and your areas of vulnerability.
Channels connect two Centers, creating consistent circuits of energy and theme. Gates (half-channels) describe specific qualities, gifts, or tendencies. Miri-am reads the strongest Channels and Gates in their relationship to the whole chart — not as isolated traits but as part of the living circuit of who you are.

The 13 Laws Through the Lens of Human Design

1. Law of Divine Oneness
Everything is interconnected — all beings, energy, and matter are part of a unified whole.
Your Single Definition means all your defined centres flow into each other — you are a self-contained energetic whole. Gate 10 (Behaviour of the Self) in both Design and Personality lines speaks to self-love as the bridge to oneness. When you live as yourself, you naturally model interconnection for others.
Reflection: Where am I pretending to be someone else — and what would it feel like to simply be the energy I am?
2. Law of Vibration
Everything vibrates at a specific frequency — including thoughts, emotions, matter, and sound.
As a Generator, your Sacral Centre is your vibrational broadcasting tower. When you respond from genuine Sacral response, your frequency is high — magnetic, creative, building. Gate 34 (Power) in your Personality amplifies this. Your Emotional Authority means your vibration is never flat; it moves in waves — honour the wave rather than forcing a fixed emotional pitch.
Reflection: Am I responding from Sacral truth — or pushing from conditioned urgency?
3. Law of Correspondence
"As above, so below; as within, so without."
Your Environment: Shores is not random — it mirrors the internal landscape of someone who lives on the edge between two worlds: the seen and unseen, the known and unknown. Gate 60 (Limitation) in your Design says: your outer structures are a direct reflection of your inner acceptance of limits. When you accept what is, your outer life re-orders.
Reflection: What in my outer environment is showing me something I haven't yet accepted within?
4. Law of Attraction
Like attracts like. Your dominant state acts as a magnetic signal.
Generators are the most magnetic Type — your Sacral energy literally draws life to you. When you are in Satisfaction (your Signature), you attract correct work, correct people, correct timing. Gate 44 (Coming to Meet) appears in both Design and Personality — you have a gift for recognising patterns in people, and what you notice, you attract. Your Motivation: Fear means you attract understanding when you lean into investigation rather than avoidance.
Reflection: Am I in Satisfaction right now — and if not, what am I magnetising from that state?
5. Law of Inspired Action
Manifestation requires purposeful, inspired movement — not thought alone.
For a Generator, inspired action IS the strategy — To Respond. The Sacral's uh-huh is the universe saying "move here." Gate 42 (Increase) in your Personality speaks to completing what you begin. Your inspired actions are not impulsive; they are responses to what life presents. The 5/1 Profile adds: your action is most powerful when backed by thorough research (the 1 line).
Reflection: Was my last significant action a response — or did I initiate from fear or pressure?
6. Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy
Lower frequencies can always be transmuted into higher ones.
Your Incarnation Cross of Limitation (42/32 | 60/56) is a transmutation cross — you are here to help others transform their relationship to limits. Gate 60 (Limitation) is the gate of mutation: the pressure that must build before transformation occurs. What looks like stagnation in your life is often energy gathering for a breakthrough. Frustration (your Not-Self) is dense energy awaiting correct response.
Reflection: Where in my life is pressure building — and can I trust it as the precursor to mutation?
7. Law of Cause and Effect
Every action generates a consequence — not punishment, but information.
Gate 32 (Continuity) in your Personality line speaks to endurance and the recognition of what is worth preserving — this is karmic discernment. When you follow Strategy and Authority, the effects return as Satisfaction. When you override them, Frustration is the feedback. Your Profile 1 line (the Investigator) ensures you study causes deeply before drawing conclusions.
Reflection: What feedback am I receiving right now — and is it pointing to a Strategy override?
8. Law of Compensation
What you give circulates and returns — often in unexpected forms.
Gate 37 (Friendship) in your Personality carries the energy of the family — of bargains, agreements, and mutual support. When you give from genuine Sacral response (not obligation), compensation flows. Gate 40 (Aloneness / Delivery) appears in both Design and Personality — you are here to deliver something of real value, and that delivery is compensated when you rest between giving.
Reflection: Am I giving from response and fullness — or from depletion and obligation?
9. Law of Relativity
Challenges are inherently neutral. Their meaning depends on the perspective through which they are held.
Your Perspective: Personal means you are designed to experience everything through your own context first — this is not selfishness, it is correct mechanics. Gate 38 (Opposition) in your Design gives you the energy to fight for what is meaningful. What others call a struggle, you experience as purpose. Your 5/1 Profile means people project their own meanings onto you — learning to hold your own perspective is your mastery.
Reflection: Whose meaning am I carrying about this challenge — mine, or someone else's projection?
10. Law of Polarity
Everything has an opposite. Opposites complete rather than oppose one another.
Your Profile 5/1 is already a polarity — the Heretic (5) who is seen publicly as the saviour, and the Investigator (1) who needs deep private foundations. Gate 6 (Friction / Conflict) in both Design and Personality holds the polarity of intimacy and distance — the friction that is necessary for genuine connection. Your emotional wave itself is polarity in motion: high and low, neither permanent.
Reflection: Which polarity within me is asking to be honoured rather than resolved?
11. Law of Rhythm
Life moves in natural cycles. No high or low lasts forever.
Your Emotional Authority is a master class in rhythm — the Solar Plexus moves in waves, and wisdom comes from riding them rather than fighting them. Gate 36 (Crisis / Darkening of the Light) appears in both Design and Personality — you are intimately familiar with emotional seasons. Gate 60 (Limitation) teaches that every cycle has its natural endpoint. You cannot rush the wave.
Reflection: What emotional wave am I in right now — and can I let it complete rather than act from it?
12. Law of Gender
Masculine and feminine energies exist within all things. Creation requires the union of both.
Your Sacral Centre (feminine — receptive, responsive, life-force) paired with your Solar Plexus (its own creative wave) represents the sacred marriage of response and feeling. Gate 10 (Behaviour of the Self) holds both — self-love is the union of doing and being. Your Design carries Gate 26 (The Taming Power of the Great) — the masculine force that must be balanced with the receptive wisdom of waiting.
Reflection: Am I allowing myself to receive as freely as I give — or is the masculine doing always overriding the feminine receiving?
✦ Law of Grace (Bonus)
Divine love and forgiveness transcend karma. Surrender makes grace available.
Your Incarnation Cross of Limitation carries the deepest grace teaching: you are not here to transcend limits — you are here to help others find freedom within them. That is grace in action. Gate 56 (Stimulation / The Wanderer) in your Design line says: your stories, your wandering, your experiences — they are not random. They are the raw material of grace that you offer to others. Surrender the need to have it all figured out.
